Back to the Future
We start The Iyengar Yoga Association of Greater New York’s annual Fall Fund campaign, “Back to the Future” today. We have been hard at work to ensure that Iyengar Yoga has a bigger and brighter future to support you and your yoga studies in 2024 and beyond.
Wherever we find ourselves, life takes us forward, with our fair share of zigs and zags along the way. If COVID hadn’t disrupted our lives, we would still be located at 150 West 22nd Street. Now, through serendipity, and the tireless work of our Board of Directors and staff, we are excited to return to our former home in Chelsea. Starting Saturday, October 19th, the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York will reopen in its own dedicated space, complete with front desk check-in, changing rooms and studios all on one level - creating a true oasis for the greater New York Iyengar Yoga community.
Your contribution and support makes this possible.
• A $100 donation today helps us purchase new props for the space, including bolsters and covers, and ceiling ropes to enhance your practice;
• A $250 donation allows us to set up digital information screens and more to improve our communications with you; and
• A $500 donation helps students in need to receive needed scholarships or access to no-charge classes such as Breast Health, People of Color (POC) and to organize community events which will help us get back together.
As a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, we rely on your generosity and support to provide a portion of the resources needed for us to thrive and keep our doors open.
In a tumultuous world, we find refuge in Iyengar Yoga. This practice unites us all — whether you just took your first class or you have been a member since the association began in 1987. Sometimes, like pushing back up into Urdhva Dhanurasana, returning in itself IS progress. With our “Back to the Future,”campaign, we return to our home in Chelsea. For those of you familiar with the space, we hope you are as excited as we are. For those of you who don’t know it yet, we can’t wait to share it with you. Although our surroundings will look different come mid-October, our commitment to inspire and enable the study of the art, science and philosophy of Iyengar Yoga will never waver.
If you have experienced the profound and transformative effects of Iyengar Yoga, please help us further our mission and programs to secure our future by making a tax deductible contribution today.
Sincerely,
James Murphy, Co-Dean of Education
Bobby Clennell, Co-Dean of Education
Sharib Khan, Interim Executive Director
